Matt Demaray was raised in Apple Valley, Minnesota where he won three state high school championships (84, 85, 86) while placing second as an eighth grader and third as a senior in the Minnesota State High School Wrestling Championships. Matt was coached by his father, Bill Demaray and graduated in 1987 with a career win-loss record of 151-7-1.
Matt went on to earn a Bachelor`s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where he was a two-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion (91, 92). He was also a recipient of the prestigious Big Ten Medal of Honor in 1992 awarded annually to one male and female student-athlete for academic and athletic achievement.
Following his collegiate career, Matt continued on with his educational and athletic endeavors earning a Master`s Degree in Industrial Engineering while concurrently serving as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin. During these post-collegiate years, Matt was a 4x U.S. Open Senior National Freestyle Champion earning him a spot on the U.S National Team for four consecutive years.
Following his wrestling career, Matt spent three years with Ernst & Young in their middle market management consulting practice. He returned to school once again to earn an MBA from Northwestern`s Kellogg School of Management. Upon graduation, Matt started as an investment analyst for a prominent family office located in Oak Brook, IL. In early 2010, Matt left his prior place of employment to join a private investment group focused predominantly on investing with hedge fund managers.
Matt and his wife Michelle have been married for 17 years and are the proud parents of three children Ella, Clara, and Jack ages 8, 6, and 1, respectively. The Demaray Family lives in Geneva, Illinois and attends First Baptist Church of Geneva.
