2007 Matt Hanutke Pittsville.jpgMatt Hanutke graduated from Pittsville High School in 1990. He was the first wrestler in Wisconsin State history to be undefeated throughout his high school wrestling career 117-0. He went on to wrestle for the University of Wisconsin - Madison under Hall of Fame coaches Andy Rein and Barry Davis. While wrestling for the Badgers he was a Big Ten Champ and a 4 time All-American. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Resource Management.

He was raised in a home where giving of time, money and self was an every day occurrence. And it wasn't just about helping; it was going above and beyond, always giving your full potential. His father taught him that work ethic and love for family is everything. Growing up his father expected a lot out of him, which pushed Matt to become a man of integrity. His mother is the definition of tenacity; she engrained this attribute into Matt. She faithfully supported Matt at every match throughout his wrestling career. Most of all, his parents loved him and never let a day go by with out reminding him of that truth. Tommy, his older brother, was and still is Matt's biggest fan. Tommy was the first one to remind Matt of how far he had come in the wrestling world and the first one to encourage Matt when the road seemed tough. And finally Matt's sister Tonia, she joined their family at 12 months old, forever changing the dynamic of their family life, and Matt will always think of Tonia as the greatest thing that ever happened to their family.

"How can you not succeed with men such as Jerry Hahn, Mike Brogan, Andy Rein and Barry Davis in your corner?"

Jerry Hahn was Matt's high school wrestling coach at Pittsville. He died in Matt's senior year from cancer. Jerry was one of the greatest men in Matt's life. The passion he put into his family, school and this sport will never be forgotten. "Jerry Hahn was the greatest role model that anyone could wish for. We miss you Jerry. And without these four men, the support and love of my family, friends and community, I would've never had the success I had in my wrestling career, and for that I thank you."

Matt currently resides in Barneveld, WI with his beautiful wife Beth. He is currently working on producing a future state wrestling champ!
