Dave Rudrud has been the head wrestling coach at Holmen High School since 1978. His teams have won 8 regional titles, 2 sectional titles and 1 team sectional championship. His team placed 3rd in the state in 1988. He has compiled a dual meet record of 146-32.
During Dave's tenure, Holmen has had 42 state qualifiers, including 6 state champions and 5 second place finishers.
In addition to his high school coaching, Dave has a plethora of wrestling experiences, which include working with kids wrestling and serving as vice-chairman and chairman on both state and national levels. He has worked with USA Wrestling as a member of various committees which include Olympic Coaches Selection Committee, Merchandise Committee, Rulebook Committee, and Finance Committee.
Dave served USA Wrestling as an executive board member and was chosen USA Wrestling Kids Man of the Year in 1986 and USA Wrestling Man of the Year in 1987.
Dave has worked numerous national and international events in a variety of capacities. They include World Cup and Pan American Cup Pairings Master; Seoul Olympics Public Relations, FILA Youth Commission; Freestyle World Championships; Rome Team Leader; and Atlanta Olympic Games Sports Information Supervisor.
In the State of Wisconsin, Dave has been involved as host or tournament director of numerous tournaments and events. Some of these include: The National Kids Meet in 1984, 1989 and 1994; International Duals including USA vs. Cuba and USA vs. USSR: U.S. National Greco Open, 1986; National Junior Regionals annually since 1987; and the much heralded Bi-State Classic which features 45 high school teams.
